This video is an excerpt of the full length Songs of Truth performance recorded at the Singing Storytellers Symposium, held at Cape Breton University (CBU) in October 2014. In it, local actor and playwright Scott Sharplin performs as a storyteller, interpreting the lives and poetry of the Ukrainian bards. Julian Kytasty plays a traditional Ukrainian piece, in dialogue. The Songs of Truth performance composed the second half of the Singing Storytellers “Griots and Kobzars” concert held at CBU’s Boardmore Playhouse. After the concert, a CD release party was held at the CBU Faculty Lounge. A full length documentary film of the Singing Storytellers Songs of Truth is currently in production.
